Yard of the Month Guidelines

For those of you who are new to GV, our Guidelines for Yard-of-the-Month award are:

• A unified, simple and balanced landscape design.
• Plantings in scale with the surroundings and limited to a few different types of plants rather than too many which confuse the eye.
• Neat but natural.
• Winner must not have received the award within the last two years. If the property changes ownership, the new owner becomes eligible immediately.

Some violations of the Covenants and Restrictions that disqualify a home for consideration are:

• Basketball hoops/stands in the driveway or banners, signs or other ornaments on or near the house. (The US flag is an exception.)
• Figurines, statues, birdbaths or feeders or other objects in the front yard.
• Incorrect house color and poor general maintenance such as fungus on walls, driveway, sidewalk, garage doors, or mailbox not standard or properly maintained.
