Big Sand Lake and Little Sand Lake MSTU project:
By now, you have received a card from Orange County Environmental Protection Division regarding Big Sand Lake and an MSTU which is usually a vehicle a developer or other entity uses to raise funds for a specific project. In this case, I don't know the origin of the MSTU, but I do know that some area communities, Bay Vista Estates for one, is interested in cleaning up the channel between Big Sand Lake and Little Sand Lake.
I was told that the lakes currently are connected, but the channel has filled with debris, natural and man-made. There is interest in dredging this channel so that boats can go between lakes and have access to some undeveloped properties on Little Sand Lake.
I was contacted by a resident in Bay Vista Estates about joining in on the MSTU, and I stated then that this would require GV Homeowner input and a vote on a commitment.
It appears that the county may have added the Granada Villas community to the MSTU. The meeting on December 1, 2011 is scheduled to discuss the plan. Members of the Board plan to participate. I have sent a letter to Mr. Sergio Duarte inquiring about how Granada Villas may have been added to the MSTU without our input. (The text is included below.)
If you cannot attend, please check the website for updates after this meeting.
Best Regards,
Barbara Ellers
President, GV HOA

Dear Mr. Duarte:
This is in response to the card I received today via USPS regarding the meeting of the Big Sand Lake MSTU to be held on December 1, 2011. I am the President of the above named entity.
I would like to know under what authority you published the possibility of Granada Villas (named incorrectly on the meeting notice) joining the Big Sand Lake MSTU? No discussions have been held with either Owners or the County regarding this concept. How is it that it has been placed on the agenda of a public meeting without the knowledge of the Board of Directors of the involved Community?
You can reach me at 407-760-0529; or, it may be easier for you to contact Harold Cohen, Vice President at 407-709-4970 to discuss the above issues.
Sincerely,
Barbara Ellers, President
